Static Weight vs Balance vs Swing Feel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, we need to separate three concepts that often get mixed up:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Static weight<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 what the scale shows (e.g. 365 g)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Balance<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 where the mass is distributed along the racket<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Swing feel<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 how heavy or light it feels when you actually swing it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two rackets can both be&nbsp;<strong>365 g<\/strong>, but:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">One has more mass concentrated towards the&nbsp;<strong>head<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2192 feels sluggish, powerful, more demanding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">One has more mass towards the&nbsp;<strong>handle<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2192 feels quicker, easier to maneuver, less powerful but easier on the arm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What the player really experiences on court is&nbsp;<strong>swing feel<\/strong>, which is strongly influenced by balance (and technically by swing weight \/ moment of inertia), not just by static weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Why 365g Can Feel Heavy for One Player and Light for Another<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Think about two players:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Player A:&nbsp;<strong>70 kg<\/strong>&nbsp;female<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Player B:&nbsp;<strong>90 kg<\/strong>&nbsp;male<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both of them might use a&nbsp;<strong>365 g<\/strong>&nbsp;racket \u2014 and both can absolutely play well with that number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But if the&nbsp;<strong>balance<\/strong>&nbsp;is very head-heavy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">After 15\u201320 minutes of fast rallies and overheads,<br>the 70 kg player may start to feel the racket is&nbsp;<strong>too demanding<\/strong>, especially on the shoulder and elbow.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The 90 kg player with more strength might be totally fine and enjoy the extra&nbsp;<strong>smash power<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not only about gender or body weight \u2014 it\u2019s about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Strength level<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Technique<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Frequency of play<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Existing arm\/shoulder issues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same spec on paper can land in very different places relative to each player\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>personal \u201climit\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. The \u201cThreshold Point\u201d \u2014 Where Power Is Highest (and When It Starts to Hurt)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s a simple way I like to explain it to players and brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>For each player, there is a&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>personal threshold point<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;of weight &amp; balance.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Below that point \u2192 the racket feels&nbsp;<strong>easy to swing<\/strong>, but you might be \u201cleaving some power on the table\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">At that point \u2192 the racket feels&nbsp;<strong>almost at your limit<\/strong>, but still under control. This is often where your&nbsp;<strong>smash power is maximized<\/strong>, without destroying your arm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Above that point \u2192 the racket starts to feel&nbsp;<strong>like a hammer<\/strong>:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Your swing slows down<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Timing becomes inconsistent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The arm, shoulder and wrist take too much load<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">You get tired very quickly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other words:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Heavier or more head-heavy is not always better.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The goal is to find the&nbsp;<strong>heaviest \/ most head-biased setup you can still fully control over a full match<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For any racket sport \u2014 padel, tennis, pickleball, beach tennis \u2014 choosing suitable&nbsp;<strong>weight and balance<\/strong>&nbsp;is critical.<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/plans?source=upgrade_membership---post_li_non_moc_upsell--2a178e8fac1b---------------------------------------\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My recommendation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Choose a setup that is&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>right at your controllable limit<\/em><\/strong><em>, not beyond it.<br>That\u2019s where you usually get the best combination of&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>power and consistency<\/em><\/strong><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you go beyond your own limit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">You might gain some \u201ctheoretical\u201d power, but in reality you\u2019ll swing slower, mishit more, and&nbsp;<strong>fatigue<\/strong>&nbsp;much faster \u2014 especially in the second hour of play.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. From the Field: How This Shows Up in Real Projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In my times working on-site with padel racket factories and following more than 15 new racket development cases, I see this pattern again and again:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">A brand insists on&nbsp;<strong>very aggressive specs<\/strong>&nbsp;(heavy and head-heavy) because they want \u201cpower\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">On court, their real target players (club-level, not pros)&nbsp;<strong>get tired, lose control, or feel discomfort<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We then adjust:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Slightly lower weight<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Slightly more neutral balance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Or keep the static weight but improve maneuverability by changing balance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026and suddenly the feedback changes to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cNow I can use it for a full match and don\u2019t feel sour on my arm.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. How Brands Should Think About Weight &amp; Balance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you\u2019re designing your own padel line, think in terms of&nbsp;<strong>who<\/strong>&nbsp;will actually play with each model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very rough guidelines (you can refine per market):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Entry \/ lower intermediate players<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Weight: ~355\u2013365 g<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Balance:&nbsp;<strong>even or slightly head-light<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Goal: easy to swing, forgiving, protect the arm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Strong intermediate \/ advanced club players<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Weight: ~360\u2013370 g (depending on physical strength)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Balance:&nbsp;<strong>even to slightly head-heavy<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Goal: mix of control and finishing power<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Aggressive advanced \/ tournament players<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Weight: 365 g and above<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Balance:&nbsp;<strong>more head-heavy<\/strong>, but only if the player has the technique and strength<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Goal: maximum power, and the player accepts higher physical demand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are not hard rules, but they give you a starting point.<br>The key is: don\u2019t design only for the&nbsp;<strong>first 5 minutes<\/strong>&nbsp;of hitting the ball \u2014 design for&nbsp;<strong>two full sets<\/strong>, including when players are already a bit tired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Communicating Weight &amp; Balance in Your OEM Brief<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Linking back to&nbsp;<strong>Part 5<\/strong>&nbsp;(how to brief your OEM factory), here\u2019s how you can talk about weight &amp; balance in a way that helps your factory and respects real swing feel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cWe want 365 g, good power and control.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Try something like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cTarget weight:&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>360\u2013365 g<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;including endcap, without plastic.<br>Balance:&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>even to slightly head-heavy<\/em><\/strong><em>.<br>The racket should feel powerful on smashes but not tiring after 2 hours of play for a 70\u201385 kg strong intermediate player. Comfort and maneuverability are still important.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019re not just giving a number \u2014 you\u2019re giving&nbsp;<strong>context<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\" wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Who is the player?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">What do they weigh (roughly)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">How long do they usually play?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">What do you prioritize if there is a trade-off?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s what turns
